About PET Lamp
PET Lamp: Design, Sustainability, and Artisan Tradition
PET Lamp was born in the summer of 2011, when designer Álvaro Catalán de Ocón was invited to Colombia to take part in a project focused on recycling and reusing plastic bottles. The brand brings together the best of industrial design and craftsmanship, transforming a short-lived object — a plastic bottle — into a product enriched with the cosmogony and cultural heritage of local traditions.
Thanks to the versatility of its designs and the collaboration with artisans from different cultures, each PET Lamp is unique, featuring patterns, textures, and colors that reflect the tradition of each community. The collections range from Pikul in Thailand, Bolgatanga and Gurunsi in Ghana, and Eperara Siapidara in Colombia, to Chimbarongo in Chile and the most recent addition to the catalog, Ibisi in Rwanda. Some of the world’s most renowned museums — including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Centre Pompidou, and the Bauhaus Archive — feature PET Lamp designs in their permanent collections.
With over 10 years of experience, PET Lamp has evolved into an international benchmark in sustainable lighting.
