About Ibisi pendant light by PET Lamp; Rwandan handcrafted design, recycled PET, bamboo and papyrus, Ø30 cm, height 120 cm, E27 9.5W 2700K
The Ibisi pendant light is part of a collection inspired by the weaving tradition of the Ibisi culture in Rwanda. It is handcrafted by local artisans in collaboration with the MASS design studio, paying tribute to the ancestral Uruhindu basketry technique, renowned for its refined craftsmanship and use of natural materials such as bamboo and papyrus.
Each lamp is handmade from reused PET bottles, cut into strips that serve as a structural support for both the inner frame and the outer woven papyrus layer. The natural fibers are boiled at over 100 °C for dyeing, sun-dried, and carefully handwoven, creating an elongated, sculptural form reminiscent of cypress trees or urban obelisks.
It measures 30 cm in diameter and 120 cm in height, and includes a 150 cm black textile cable that allows for easy adjustment according to ceiling height.
The lamp comes with an E27 LED light source, 9.5W (740 lumens, 2700K), which emits a warm light.
