Dune does not have a clearly defined shape. It could be described as an intriguingly amorphous luminaire. Designed by Madrid-based Mayice Studio, Dune is a hand-blown piece of borosilicate glass, wrapped around a veneer diffuser with a sheath-like lower opening. The glass is hand-blown by Eduard Garuti, an experienced craftsman. With mastery and great skill, Garuti is able to reveal the natural beauty found in glass. Dune's distinctive shape is composed of two symmetrical ends and an irregular bulb-shaped centre. The veneer diffuser houses the lamp's adjustable LED light source, and the glass softens the downward light from the sheath-like opening. Each Dune lamp is unique: the beauty found in the imperfection of hand-blown glass, with its "wabi-sabi" quality, ensures that Dune is like a work of art.
