Alex Fernández Camps

Alex Fernández Camps

Alex combined technical architecture studies with artistic projects in different disciplines such as painting, photography and installations. Simultaneously, he began his apprenticeship in industrial design fulfilling his restless spirit and vocation to participate in creative solutions for the objects which surround us. He approaches the object based on its function at the human scale, and he innovates exactly in the point understood as design. Instead of working on the object, he works in accordance with people and situations; he then deals with the object from this angle and subsequently composes the piece in the most graceful and simple way.

Among the awards and recognition which he has received, we highlight the Delta D’Or Award in 2012 granted by the ADI-FAD Organization for its selective nature, tradition and rigour in terms of design for the FAD and Delta awards. He was also honoured with the IF Design Award in 2009, for his first project executed as an independent designer; likewise, he has received various nominations for diverse awards. He has been featured in numerous publications by the leading press and media agencies as well as participation in diverse trade fairs and exhibitions as a Representative of Spanish Design in Asia, Northern Europe and the USA; in any case, the greatest recognition is seeing one of his objects by surprise in any location or witnessing people using one of the objects which he has designed.
